Minecraft Gets Name Changes For In-Game Names, Pocket Edition Sells 30 Million

Minecraft players will be able to change their in-game name soon as the development studio Mojang has announced. The process is scheduled to go live on February 4 and appears to be pretty straightforward; once the name-changing system is in place, players can change their in-game name simply by logging into their account. Any name that isn't currently used by another player will still be available. However players must wait for 30 days before they can change their name again.

You don't have to worry about someone stealing your name. It takes about 37 days for a name that was previously used to be available for use by someone else. If you were to change your name from, say, "MinecraftMasta" to something else, we wouldn't be able to take MinecraftMasta for yourself before you had a chance to claim it.  ONLINE GAMES You can't change your inventory or character by changing your name. If someone blocks you in any way, you won't be able to override that block.

Mojang also announced that Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold more than 30,000,000 copies to date. Pocket Edition surpassed 21 million copies back in April, and it widened its reach to Windows Phone users in December but Mojang didn't share how many of the 9 million new sales were due to the release on a brand new platform.
